He made the declaration on Friday in Ilorin while addressing stakeholders, supporters, and party loyalists, saying his decision followed wide consultations and a sense of responsibility to serve the state.

Oloriegbe said his ambition is driven by the need for experienced leadership capable of taking Kwara beyond stability to measurable development.

He acknowledged the role of the ruling party in maintaining stability in the state but stressed that more deliberate efforts are needed to translate that stability into progress.

Describing his declaration as an acceptance of responsibility, he said governance should be viewed as a duty rather than a privilege.

He noted that Kwara’s current situation requires “tested judgment, disciplined governance, and leadership ready to deliver from day one.”

Drawing from his background as a medical doctor, he likened governance to treating a recovering patient, saying the state now needs strength and full recovery after stability.

Oloriegbe outlined a five-point agenda covering security, economic growth, healthcare, fairness, and efficient governance, promising result-driven leadership if elected.

He also pledged inclusive governance, especially for youths and women, stressing that they must play central roles in the state’s development.

The former lawmaker represented Kwara Central in the 9th National Assembly from 2019 to 2023.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
