Faleke made the announcement via his official X handle on Friday, urging APC members and supporters across Ikeja and Lagos State to back Hamzat ahead of the party’s upcoming governorship primaries.

He called on party loyalists to mobilise support for Hamzat, describing him as the best choice to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The endorsement comes amid growing reports of a possible consensus arrangement within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which may position Hamzat as the party’s preferred candidate for the 2027 election.

Party sources say the move is part of wider consultations among South-West stakeholders as preparations intensify ahead of the next election cycle.

It is also gathered that other top politicians are being considered for key positions across the region.

Among them is Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as “Yayi,” who is reportedly being considered for the Ogun State governorship race, while Senator Sharafadeen Alli is said to be gaining support for the Oyo State governorship ticket.

The reported zoning discussions are said to have followed a high-level meeting involving President Bola Tinubu and APC leaders from Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States held in Lagos on March 23.

According to sources, the meeting focused on candidate selection and party strategy, with emphasis on popularity and acceptability ahead of the 2027 elections.

President Bola Tinubu is expected to visit Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on November 21 for the APC rally scheduled to hold at Mapo Hall.

The planned event comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the proposed venue attracting public attention.

He added that democracy thrives when political parties have equal opportunities to engage with voters within the confines of the law.

Makinde further explained that access to government-owned facilities is subject to established procedures and regulations designed to ensure proper use, maintenance and public order.

He stated that any political party or organisation that meets the stipulated requirements should not be subjected to discrimination or unfair restrictions when seeking to use such facilities.
