Apetu Stool Crisis: Ipetumodu Stakeholders Give Gov. Ademola Adeleke Seven-Day Ultimatum

The Governor of Ademola Adeleke is under increasing pressure from stakeholders in Ipetumodu to urgently intervene in the prolonged vacancy of the Apetu stool.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The stakeholders expressed concern that the continued absence of a traditional ruler is beginning to weaken the town’s traditional authority, administrative coordination, and territorial stability.

Community leaders, including kingmakers and representatives of the Aribile and Fagbemokun ruling houses, raised the alarm during a press briefing held on Thursday in Ipetumodu. They warned that further delay in resolving the matter could heighten tensions within the community.

According to them, the lack of a monarch is already affecting grassroots governance, with rising disputes and growing administrative lapses.

They therefore called on the state government to officially declare the Apetu stool vacant and begin the process of installing a new monarch within seven days.

Speaking on behalf of the ruling houses, Prince Dele Oyebade stated that all required legal documents, including a Certified True Copy of a court judgment, had already been submitted to the government without any resulting action.

He described the delay as unnecessary, saying it is fueling avoidable tension in the town, and suggested that the governor may not have received full briefing on the situation, particularly from the lawmaker representing Ife North State Constituency, Akinyode Oyewusi.

At the centre of the dispute is the continued recognition of Oba Joseph Oloyede, who is currently serving a prison sentence in the United States after being convicted of fraud.

The monarch was sentenced on August 26, 2025, to 56 months in prison for his involvement in a conspiracy to fraudulently obtain COVID-19 relief funds. US authorities said the scheme involved the exploitation of emergency loan programmes meant to support small businesses during the pandemic.

Court records also showed that assets linked to the case, including a property in Medina, Ohio, and over $96,000, were forfeited. He was also ordered to pay more than $4.4 million in restitution and will serve supervised release after completing his sentence.

Another community stakeholder, Prince Olaboye Ayoola, warned that the leadership vacuum is already causing serious local challenges, insisting the government must respond within seven days.

He said the absence of a recognised monarch is affecting land matters and cultural traditions, while also allowing neighbouring communities to encroach on disputed boundaries.

The Aresa of Ipetumodu, Chief Lawrence Odewale, also called for immediate government action, urging the appointment of warrant chiefs to assist kingmakers in resolving the crisis.

He maintained that formally declaring the stool vacant is necessary to restore order and allow traditional processes to proceed without further delay.

Tension remains high in the community as residents await the state government’s response to the growing calls for urgent intervention and restoration of traditional leadership.

“We Will Rig You!”: Peter Obi Issues Explosive Warning To INEC Over Alleged Election Manipulation!.

Published

During a recent visit to Washington, D.C., Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), argued that the prevalence of election rigging in Nigeria is largely due to voters failing to actively defend their ballots. Obi emphasized that while candidates play a role in the process, credible outcomes ultimately depend on citizens remaining at their polling units to ensure votes are counted transparently. He criticized the “transactional” nature of Nigerian politics, suggesting that many voters prioritize other activities over the essential task of monitoring the electoral process. According to Obi, Nigeria’s primary challenge is poor political leadership, and he urged citizens to take collective ownership of their votes to demand the accountable governance required for the country to succeed.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for increased citizen involvement in protecting electoral integrity. During a recent trip to Washington, D.C., Obi stated that election manipulation persists because voters frequently leave polling stations before the counting process is completed. He argued that:

  • Voters must proactively defend their ballots at polling units to ensure transparency and prevent rigging.

  • Nigeria’s fundamental obstacle is a crisis of political leadership, rather than a lack of natural or human resources.

  • Real change requires Nigerians to move beyond passive participation and take active responsibility for the electoral process.
