The demonstrators demanded that the group aligned with David Mark, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso refrain from interfering in the party’s affairs.

Joining Bala Gombe was ADC House of Representatives member Leke Abejide from Kogi State. The protesters urged INEC to fully uphold the recent court ruling and maintain the “Status Quo Ante Bellum” regarding party leadership. They also raised slogans calling for strict adherence to judicial directives and transparency in the electoral process.

Addressing INEC officials, Bala Gombe stressed the importance of following due process in resolving the leadership dispute. He said, “We are here to urge INEC to follow due process. You cannot enter the ADC through the window and expect to overturn the rightful leadership. The ADC belongs to all Nigerians, from wards to national levels.”

Abejide added that the commission must resist what he called an attempted takeover of the party, highlighting that the ADC constitution sets clear eligibility requirements for leadership positions.

“We are urging INEC to do the right thing and protect democracy from usurpers. Attempting to hijack the party leadership overnight is unacceptable. The ADC constitution requires at least two years of active membership to qualify for any leadership position. INEC must restore the status quo ante bellum and recognize Nafiu Bala Gombe as the national chairman of the party,” he said.

President Bola Tinubu is expected to visit Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on November 21 for the APC rally scheduled to hold at Mapo Hall.

The planned event comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the proposed venue attracting public attention.
