How ISWAP Attack Killed Brig.-Gen Braimoh In Borno Military Base.

Fresh details have emerged about the death of Brigadier-General O.O. Braimoh, who was killed during a deadly террорист attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Military sources revealed that the senior officer was unable to escape as the assault intensified after the armoured vehicle he tried to use reportedly malfunctioned.

The attack, believed to have been carried out by fighters linked to Islamic State West Africa Province, a faction of Boko Haram, left several soldiers dead, with others injured or unaccounted for.

According to a military source, Braimoh attempted to withdraw from the base as insurgents advanced, but the bulletproof vehicle he planned to use failed to start, leaving him exposed. He was subsequently captured and killed by the attackers.

The source further alleged that lapses in maintenance and possible mismanagement of resources among some senior officers may have contributed to the situation. Funds allocated for vehicle upkeep and fuel, the source claimed, are sometimes not properly utilised, leaving equipment in poor condition.

It was also gathered that the armoured vehicle Braimoh tried to use already had mechanical issues prior to the attack, with reports that requests for repairs or fuel are often overlooked or delayed.

The нападение occurred on Wednesday night when insurgents reportedly stormed the military base with heavy gunfire and explosives, engaging troops for several hours. The prolonged clash resulted in multiple casualties, though the exact number of those killed remains unclear.

Another source confirmed that Braimoh died alongside several officers, including the Brigade Imam, while a number of soldiers were also injured or declared missing after the incident.

The assault is part of a growing pattern of attacks by ISWAP in Nigeria’s North-East, particularly around the Lake Chad region, despite repeated claims by the military that insurgent activities have been significantly weakened.
