“Leicester City Lose Appeal, Six-Point Deduction Stands As Relegation Battle Heats Up!”.
Leicester City FC have failed in their attempt to overturn a six-point deduction for breaching financial regulations, leaving the club facing a tough relegation fight with five games remaining.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The penalty, originally imposed in February by an independent commission and now upheld by an appeal board, relates to breaches of profit and sustainability rules during the 2023-2024 season.
The ruling keeps Leicester perilously close to the bottom of the EFL Championship table, just one point from safety.
The club was initially charged by the Premier League in May 2025 after an investigation transferred from the English Football League. Leicester contested both the commission’s authority to impose the points deduction and the severity of the punishment, but both arguments were dismissed.
In a statement, Leicester said: “With the matter now concluded and five games remaining, everyone at the club is fully focused on the matches ahead and on shaping the outcome of our season through our results on the pitch.
“We acknowledge this has been a challenging period and thank our supporters for their continued backing. Our responsibility now is to approach the remaining games with focus and determination.”
The appeal board, chaired by Lord Dyson and including Sir Gary Hickinbottom and Daniel Alexander KC, confirmed the original ruling. It also rejected a separate Premier League challenge seeking a harsher sanction over the late submission of Leicester’s annual accounts.
The club’s financial losses during the assessment period exceeded the threshold allowed under league rules, triggering the deduction.
