“Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso, Amaechi, Tambuwal Protest Under ADC Banner At INEC”.
Prominent leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi, and Aminu Tambuwal, were on Wednesday seen carrying the party’s banner while leading the ongoing “SAVE OUR DEMOCRACY” protest in Abuja.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The demonstration is in response to INEC’s decision to delist the party’s leadership under David Mark.
Protesters sang Nigeria’s former national anthem, “Arise, O Compatriots!”, even though it was replaced on May 29, 2024, by President Bola Tinubu with the 1960 independence anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”
Addressing the crowd, ADC chieftain Rotimi Amaechi called on Nigerians to take charge of their destiny and resist political manipulation, urging citizens to defend the integrity of the nation’s democracy.
A post on Aminu Tambuwal’s X account quoted Amaechi as saying:
“Together with other ADC leaders, I am participating in a peaceful protest against the perceived partisanship of the electoral umpire.
“This patriotic action reflects our commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy and ensuring our electoral process remains credible, fair, and transparent.
“We must resist any attempt to weaken democratic institutions or open the door to authoritarian tendencies.
“Our stance is not merely political; it is a duty to protect the integrity of our nation and preserve the will of the people.”
