Similar weather is expected on Tuesday, with morning storms likely in Taraba and Kaduna, and moderate rainfall predicted in Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, and Kaduna later in the day. By Wednesday, the pattern of morning sun followed by afternoon thunderstorms is set to continue across these states.
In the North-Central region, cloudy skies with sunshine breaks are expected, with thunderstorms and light rain possible over Kogi and Benue States on Monday. Isolated storms may occur in the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Benue, and Nasarawa on Tuesday, expanding into more widespread showers later in the day. Wednesday is expected to bring further scattered thunderstorms.
In the South, cloudy morning conditions will give way to showers and thunderstorms in states including Akwa Ibom and Cross River on Monday, with similar moderate rainfall patterns expected throughout the region on Tuesday. By Wednesday, strong chances of thunderstorms and moderate rains are forecast for Lagos, Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom, with widespread rainfall later in the day.
NiMet urged Nigerians to take precautions ahead of the expected storms, including securing loose objects against strong winds, avoiding driving in heavy rain, and disconnecting electrical appliances during thunderstorms. The agency also advised residents to stay hydrated and wear breathable clothing, while airlines were urged to monitor specific weather reports for flight planning.
