PDP Demands Answers From INEC Over Alleged Land Gift From Wike.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to clarify allegations that Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, gave land and cash gifts to INEC officials.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The opposition party claimed that Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the Supervising National Commissioner for the FCT, reportedly confirmed receiving a land gift. The PDP argued that such allocations could compromise the neutrality of electoral officials.

In a statement on Tuesday signed by National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong and shared with Naija News, the PDP also alleged that INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, was a beneficiary, raising questions about his ability to oversee free and fair elections.

The party demanded that INEC urgently disclose the facts to the public.

The statement read in part:

“Last week, reports emerged that FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, offered land and cash gifts to senior INEC staff. Mohammed Kudu Haruna later appeared to admit receiving the land. This is troubling and suggests a land-for-favour scheme aimed at influencing election-related officials. It is notable that similar allocations were not made to critical workers like healthcare professionals, teachers, or security officials, whose roles also demand residence in the capital.

“We demand that the INEC Chairman clarify these allegations against his officials and himself, as public trust in the Commission is already under strain. The Commission must operate transparently and impartially, ensuring its actions reflect these principles.”

The PDP’s statement follows claims by activist Aisha Yesufu, who alleged on Arise Television’s Prime Time that INEC officials were bribed with up to $50,000 and land to remove PDP leadership, and that the Chairman may have been pressured into compliance.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.

The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.
