CONSENSUS, NOT CONSPIRACY: A Forensic Takedown of Suleiman Abubakar’s Misleading Claims Against Minister Momoh

CONSENSUS, NOT CONSPIRACY: A Forensic Takedown of Suleiman Abubakar’s Misleading Claims Against Minister Momoh....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

There are opinions… and then there are orchestrated distortions dressed up as analysis.

The recent write-up by Suleiman Abubakar falls squarely into the latter category — a cocktail of half-truths, assumptions, and outright misrepresentation of facts.

At the center of his argument is the claim that the Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, imposed councillorship candidates in Etsako East.

Let us be clear: that claim collapses the moment facts are introduced.

The process that produced councillorship candidates in Etsako East was not manufactured in Abuja, nor was it dictated by any single individual.

It was a consensus-driven grassroots process.

Across all ten wards in Etsako East, leaders convened meetings. Aspirants were considered. Stakeholders engaged. Decisions were reached through dialogue and agreement.

This is not speculation.

There are documented meeting records.

There are attendance sheets.

There are signed endorsements by ward leaders.

So the question that Mr. Suleiman Abubakar conveniently avoids is this:

Did the Minister attend ten ward meetings simultaneously to impose candidates?

Or did the wards themselves arrive at consensus and submit their decisions?

The answer is already documented — and it is not in his favour.

What followed the ward-level decisions was a straightforward administrative step:

The outcomes were collated and forwarded.

That is the extent of the Minister’s involvement.

He did not originate the names.

He did not alter the names.

He did not impose the names.

He simply processed what the grassroots had already produced.

To now twist a forwarding signature into “evidence of imposition” is either a gross misunderstanding of procedure… or a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

Mr. Suleiman Abubakar goes further to elevate Prince Kassim Afegbua as a supposed authority on grassroots politics in Ward 5.

Lawyer: Police Shouldn't Declare Individuals Wanted While Their Cases Are In Court

That argument does not just fail — it exposes the weakness of his entire position.

Since his appointment, Kassim Afegbua’s engagement with his own community of Okpella and Ward 5 has been largely absent.

Grassroots politics is not practiced through press statements and television appearances.

It is built through presence, consultation, and participation.

The same ward leaders whose decisions are now being questioned are the ones who sat down, deliberated, and signed off on the candidates.

So again, the question Mr. Suleiman Abubakar refuses to answer is simple:

Where was Kassim Afegbua during these ward meetings?

You cannot be absent from the process… and later attempt to override it with noise.

Even more telling is the attempt to portray Kassim Afegbua as a symbol of political integrity.

History says otherwise.

From his days of shifting political alignments to his well-known pattern of reactionary, convenience-driven engagements, the record is clear — this is not a grassroots mobilizer, but a political commentator who often arrives after the real work has been done.

His stint as a party leader in a structure that could not produce even the lowest elective office holder underscores that reality.

This is not grassroots influence.

This is political theatre.

The claim that the Honourable Minister is at odds with the Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is perhaps the most reckless part of the article.

There is no such conflict.

The Minister remains a critical pillar of the current administration, having played a significant role in its emergence and continuing to support its stability and success.

Their relationship is defined by mutual respect and strategic alignment, not the fictional rivalry being peddled.

As for the insinuation that the Minister is pursuing a hidden governorship agenda for 2028, that claim belongs in the realm of speculation — not serious political discourse.

While others are busy chasing shadows, the Honourable Minister is focused on his national assignment under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tinubu And Sultan Of Sokoto Hold Private Talks To Strengthen National Unity

As a key cabinet member, he is actively contributing to the Renewed Hope Agenda, delivering regional development initiatives, and shaping policies that impact millions of Nigerians.

That is real work—unlike Kassim Afegbua, who, on record, did not support Okpebholo’s emergence and actively worked against it.

As shown in the screenshot from The Cable, he described Okpebholo’s declaration as the APC candidate as “a rape of democracy,” and he was also seen on national television publicly denouncing his candidacy.

Perhaps Suleiman Abubakar and his principal Kasim Afegbua would have seen the minister for the second time on saturday inspecting two road projects undergoing construction linking Imiekuri and Iddo in his Ward 5 community. That is what will drive bulk votes in his environment not noise making or creating division to become relevant.

In the end, Mr. Suleiman Abubakar’s article is not an exposé.

It is an attempt — a failed one — to replace documented facts with convenient fiction.

But facts are stubborn.

Ten wards participated.

Leaders met.

Consensus was reached.

Decisions were documented.

Outcomes were compiled.

That is the process.

That is the sequence.

That is the truth.

The Honourable Minister will not be distracted by manufactured controversies.

He remains committed to supporting Governor Okpebholo’s administration in Edo State, while delivering on the broader national mandate entrusted to him by President Tinubu.

And as for those who prefer noise over facts…

The official statement of the leaders is attached, as well as all relevant documents from the various wards, including letters nominating their councillor candidates.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has strongly opposed reported moves by the state government to revisit the alleged Offa robbery case involving former Governor Abubakar Bukola Saraki and others.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that the party made its position known during an emergency press conference in Ilorin on Friday, describing the development as politically motivated and unjust.

PDP spokesman, Comrade Olushola Adewara, said the alleged plan to reopen the case amounts to an attempt to politicise a matter that has already been concluded by the courts.

“Tragedy In Niger: 6 Farmers Killed In Unguwar Wawa Attack”.

He alleged that the move was targeted at dragging Saraki into a case in which, according to him, legal authorities had previously found no evidence linking him to the incident.

Adewara referenced earlier legal opinions from the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, which reportedly stated that Saraki was not connected to the robbery case.

The party insisted that suspects in the case had already been prosecuted and convicted, with judgments upheld at appellate levels, while the matter is currently before the Supreme Court.

PDP urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to focus on governance rather than what it described as attempts to revive old political narratives.

It also called on security agencies to monitor the situation closely, warning that such actions could heighten political tension in the state.

The party further appealed to residents, especially families of victims in Offa, not to allow their pain to be used for political purposes.

Showunmi Declares For Ogun 2027 Governorship, Seeks IPAC Support.

A PDP chieftain and convener of The Alternative, Otunba Segun Showunmi, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that Showunmi made the announcement during a courtesy visit to the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) secretariat in Abeokuta on Friday.

He called for a broad political coalition involving opposition parties and grassroots groups to challenge what he described as the failures of dominant political forces in the state.

Showunmi argued that political parties may choose or endorse candidates, but insisted such arrangements must not deny voters a genuine electoral choice.

He said: “I will be running for governor in the 2027 governorship election. I have come to plead with you to set up a small committee… to determine how we can collaborate to make this happen.”

He also questioned whether Ogun State would experience a “coronation” or a competitive election process, urging stakeholders to allow open political contest.

The PDP chieftain noted that Ogun West’s long-standing exclusion from producing a governor is a legitimate grievance, but stressed that aspirations must still be tested through competition.

He advocated issue-based campaigns ahead of 2027, rejecting “money politics” and challenging aspirants to public debates on governance.

Showunmi maintained that he has no history of violence or political thuggery, insisting the election should be centred on ideas and development plans for the state.

In response, IPAC leadership and other political actors at the event called for collaboration and careful selection of leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.
