The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to review its recent decisions concerning the leadership dispute in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), warning that inaction could spark a credibility crisis ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued in Abuja by IPAC National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Egbeola Wale Martins, the council also raised concerns over the timing of a proposed nationwide voter revalidation exercise and condemned the ongoing violence in Plateau State.

Regarding the ADC crisis, IPAC cautioned that certain INEC actions risk escalating tensions within the political landscape. The council specifically criticized the reported removal of Distinguished Senator David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola from INEC’s official portal, describing it as premature and potentially destabilizing.

“Leadership disputes within parties should not be misinterpreted as a vacuum in party structures. Even when contested, leadership positions remain valid and must be respected,” the statement said.

IPAC further expressed apprehension over the scheduling of the nationwide voter revalidation exercise, stressing that implementing it without broad consultation could overburden political parties and disenfranchise millions of eligible voters.

“The timing of the proposed exercise is concerning. With political parties already navigating obligations under the new Electoral Act, introducing an additional nationwide exercise risks excluding citizens rather than ensuring their participation,” the council said.

The council urged INEC to reconsider the timeline to avoid a congested electoral process and to safeguard voter inclusion.

Additionally, IPAC condemned the persistent killings in Plateau State, calling them senseless acts that threaten national unity and security. “Perpetrators and their sponsors must be swiftly brought to justice,” the statement added.

IPAC concluded by emphasizing that Nigeria’s democracy can only thrive when elections are credible, institutions remain stable, and citizens feel safe to participate fully in the democratic process.

Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has expressed disappointment after the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed his ₦10 billion fundamental human rights suit against Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that the actor had approached the court seeking ₦10 billion in damages over the alleged publication of his personal data in INEC’s database.

In the suit, Emeka Ike accused Olayinka and INEC of causing him significant hardship and damage through the alleged disclosure. He asked the court to award him compensation and declare their actions illegal and unconstitutional.

However, delivering judgment on Wednesday, Justice Salim Ibrahim of the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed the case for lacking merit.

The judge held that the actor had failed to establish his claims against the defendants with credible evidence, ruling in favour of Olayinka and INEC.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the judgment, Emeka Ike questioned the meaning of fundamental human rights, expressing concern that people could suffer alleged violations, online bullying and public embarrassment without obtaining justice.

He said: “It’s even crazy that your right will be violated and the judge will tell you it’s not a fundamental human right. Then what is a fundamental human right? The embarrassment, the bullying online.”

The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a ₦10 billion lawsuit filed by Nollywood actor Emeka Ike against Lere Olayinka, an aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that Justice Salim Ibrahim dismissed the suit on Wednesday, ruling that it was not properly filed and that the actor failed to present sufficient evidence to substantiate his claims.

Emeka Ike had instituted the case against Olayinka after the aide allegedly published details of the actor’s voter registration transfer from Imo State to Abuja on his account in May without his consent.

The actor argued that the publication violated his right to privacy and asked the court to award him ₦10 billion in damages.

He also sought an order compelling Olayinka to delete the post and issue a written apology.

However, Olayinka denied any wrongdoing, arguing that the document he shared contained only Ike’s name and passport photograph, which were already publicly available.

INEC also opposed the suit, maintaining that the information was not confidential and that the law permitted the commission to make certain voter registration details accessible to the public.

Olayinka further argued that he did not obtain the information unlawfully and was not responsible for safeguarding Ike’s personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023.

The court upheld the objections raised by Olayinka and INEC and dismissed the suit, holding that the actor had failed to prove his allegations.

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has weighed in on the ongoing debate over polygamy, insisting that marrying multiple wives is not a sin.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The actor shared his opinion in a post on his Facebook page, where he argued that several great men mentioned in the Bible had multiple wives without attracting God’s condemnation.

Edochie maintained that God had no problem with such men and, in some instances, was even willing to give them more wives.

He further claimed that some men are destined to marry more than one woman but end up having only one wife because they do not fully understand themselves or are afraid of society’s judgement.

According to the actor, such men may eventually struggle in life because they fail to embrace what he believes is their destiny.

He wrote: “Even in the Bible, many great men there had many wives and God never had issues with them. He was even willing to give them more. Today, many men are destined to have many wives but because they don’t know who they are and scared of what society will say they end up having just one and life doesn’t seem to be working for them.”
