‘Jos Attack: I Spoke From Armoured Vehicle For Safety’ — Mutfwang Explains.

Published

The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has explained why he used an armoured personnel carrier during his visit to Angwan Rukuba in Jos North LGA on Monday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The governor visited the community following an attack by suspected bandits on Sunday evening that left about 28 people dead and several others injured.

Mutfwang arrived with a strong security detail, including the armoured vehicle, and addressed the anxious crowd that had gathered around his convoy. Clips from the visit quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread reactions and debate.

Speaking to Channels Television on Friday, the governor clarified that his actions were not out of fear. He had been in Abuja for official duties, including a high-level security meeting, when news of the attack reached him, prompting his immediate return to Plateau.

He explained that residents had initially refused to allow the evacuation of the victims’ bodies until his arrival:
“Unless they see the governor, they are not going to allow those corpses to be evacuated,” he said.

Although he intended to drive straight to the scene, security officers advised caution, citing a potentially hostile environment.

“The security personnel have a duty to protect me, and if they assess the situation as hostile, they are obliged to act accordingly,” Mutfwang noted.

Despite the risks, the governor insisted on visiting the site:
“I could have stayed back until the situation calmed down, but I chose to go.”

He further explained that standing through the roof hatch of the armoured vehicle allowed him to address the crowd more effectively:
“I stood at that height to speak to the people. Later, the residents assured me of my safety and even encouraged me to come closer,” he said.

Mutfwang also criticised what he called a selective portrayal of the incident on social media:
“If not for mischief, why are people ignoring the 90% of the time I spent with the crowd, seeing the corpses, appealing to them, and calming them? Social media can take a small clip and misrepresent it completely,” he added.

He maintained that he felt safe during the visit:
“I was comfortable with the people. I knew they would not harm me, but security had to make their own assessment,” he concluded.

“Inside The Power Play: Governors Privately Plotting Against Tinubu As 2027 Tensions Explode!”.

Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that the party’s presidential candidate can secure victory against President Bola Tinubu and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer Peter Obi by leveraging strategic support from the North. Speaking during a recent interview on Nevon Media, Momodu argued that the 2027 presidential race would be a formidable challenge for the incumbent president.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Northern Dominance: Momodu asserted that Atiku is positioned to win a majority of votes in the North, where the largest volume of votes is concentrated, potentially leaving opponents struggling in the South.

  • Constitutional Strategy: To satisfy the constitutional requirement of securing the highest number of votes alongside at least 25% of the vote in two-thirds of the states, Momodu believes Atiku will comfortably reach the 25% threshold in at least 26 states.

  • Strategic Consolidation: According to Momodu, the North has made a “strategic” move by ensuring no strong northern leader remains to compete against Atiku, with Kwankwaso now positioned as a running mate.

  • Shifting Political Allegiances: Unlike the 2023 election, Momodu suggested that the North now views anyone not supporting Atiku as a “traitor,” a dynamic he believes creates a different political landscape for 2027.

  • Southern Competition: Momodu expressed confidence that Atiku would effectively navigate the southern political terrain, specifically highlighting Osun State as an area where the candidate would perform well.
