“Gov Eno Launches Committee To Fix Power Woes In Akwa Ibom”.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has established a committee composed of State Executive Council members and local government chairmen to develop a concrete plan for ensuring steady and reliable electricity supply in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The state’s Commissioner for Information, Dr. Aniekan Umanah, disclosed this to journalists in Uyo following a joint meeting between the governor, the State Exco, and local government chairmen.
According to Dr. Umanah, the governor tasked the committee with reviewing ongoing power sector reforms and outlining practical steps for electricity marketing and management at the state level.
“The committee is expected to evaluate power sector reforms, harmonize proposals, and create a clear roadmap for achieving reliable electricity supply within a reasonable timeframe, building on discussions from the Power Summit held in September 2025 at Four Points by Sheraton, Uyo,” he said.
The commissioner also noted that technical experts and consultants made presentations, including options for solar and other clean energy solutions.
Speaking on the initiative, Commissioner for Power, Iniobong Robinson, urged residents to remain patient, emphasizing that recent reforms allow states to independently generate, distribute, and manage electricity.
Uwemedimo Udo, Chairman of ALGON in the state, praised the governor’s initiative, describing poor electricity supply as a major barrier to economic growth. He pledged continued collaboration from local governments to support reforms and safeguard critical infrastructure.
Eyo Ekpo, the state’s electricity sector reform consultant, explained that the 2023 Electricity Act decentralized power generation and distribution, enabling the creation of state-level electricity markets.
“Akwa Ibom has significant potential for sustainable power supply, thanks to its gas resources, power plants, transmission assets, and existing distribution network currently operated by the Port Harcourt Distribution Company, which is expected to transition to state control. Reliable electricity is achievable if generation, distribution, funding, and billing are effectively managed,” Ekpo added.

Defection Drama: NDC Breaks Silence As Kwankwaso Exit Rumors Shake Party Foundations.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially refuted claims that its vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is planning to defect due to disputes over candidate nominations in Kano State. National Publicity Secretary Osa Director characterized these rumors as “conjectures and media speculations” intended to manufacture a crisis within the party. Director clarified that the former Kano State governor remains committed to the party and suggested that political opponents are circulating these narratives to sabotage the NDC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections. While reports suggested tensions arose from adjustments to nominees linked to the Kwankwasiyya movement, the party explained that these changes were necessary to maintain a previously agreed-upon power-sharing ratio of 60 per cent for the Kwankwasiyya bloc and 40 per cent for the existing NDC structure. Officials emphasized that internal consultations are ongoing to address any nomination concerns through dialogue.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Amid rumors of a potential exit, the NDC has denied that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is threatening to leave the party. National Publicity Secretary Osa Director stated that the speculation, which stemmed from reported dissatisfaction over candidate selection in Kano State, is baseless and driven by outside interests looking to weaken the party before the 2027 polls. The controversy reportedly involved the replacement of several Kwankwasiyya movement nominees. However, the party’s Kano State Chairman, Hussaini Mairiga, maintained that these adjustments were made to honor an existing 60/40 power-sharing deal between the Kwankwasiyya group and the established NDC structure. The NDC leadership insists that such nomination disputes are normal in growing coalitions and has pledged to resolve the situation internally.
