“Apologize Now!” – Atiku’s Camp Fires At Wike Over ‘Shoot’ Threat To Journalist.

The Atiku Media Office has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to issue a public apology over his alleged threat against Channels Television presenter, Seun Okinbaloye.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement released on Saturday in Abuja, the media team of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said Wike’s remark reflects what it described as growing intolerance for dissent under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The statement condemned the minister’s comment as reckless and inappropriate, warning that such language from a public official poses a serious risk to press freedom and democratic principles.

“For a serving minister to openly say on live television that he wished to shoot a journalist over a professional opinion is not only reckless but also a disturbing indication of rising intolerance, abuse of power, and disregard for democratic norms,” the statement read.

The media office stressed that the remark should not be dismissed as a joke, insisting it amounted to a troubling threat against a journalist carrying out his duties.

It further warned that when government officials resort to violent rhetoric against the media, it sends a dangerous signal about the state of democracy in the country.

The statement also suggested that the incident reflects a broader trend where criticism is increasingly met with hostility and intimidation.

“What offence did Okinbaloye commit? He simply raised concerns about the possibility of a one-party state. Instead of engaging with his point, the minister responded with a threat,” the statement noted.

The Atiku Media Office cautioned that normalising such statements could weaken democratic institutions and encourage attacks on press freedom.

It therefore demanded an immediate and unconditional apology from Wike to Okinbaloye and the Nigerian media community.

The group also urged the Tinubu administration to distance itself from the remark and reassure journalists of their safety and protection nationwide.

“Anything less would reinforce fears that the government is becoming increasingly tolerant of intimidation and repression,” the statement concluded.

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has said he will not publicly disclose the private steps he has taken to demonstrate support for his detained predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sani made the statement amid growing scrutiny of his relationship with the former governor.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV’s Daily Politics, the Kaduna governor reaffirmed his deep respect for El-Rufai, stressing that he would not publicise every action he had taken to show his regard for him.

According to Sani, respect for someone does not require making private gestures or acts of support public.

“As a matter of respect, many things I’ve done to show my respect for him, my regard for him, I don’t think I should come out and say it. Because when you respect someone, you don’t come out to say certain things,” he said.

Nigeria Would Be So Rich If Everybody Left Money In The Bank – Peter Obi.

Published

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said Nigeria could have accumulated significant wealth if public funds had been consistently kept in banks to generate interest rather than being mismanaged.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Obi made the remark during an interview with a radio station in Nasarawa State on Wednesday.

According to the former Anambra State governor, the country’s financial position would have been considerably stronger if public office holders had protected government funds and allowed them to earn interest in financial institutions.

“I wish everybody in this country left money in the bank; they have interest. Nigeria would have been so rich that we don’t know what to do with money,” he said.

Obi disclosed that his administration kept public funds in three different banks, stressing the importance of safeguarding government resources.

He also criticised what he described as a culture of dishonesty in Nigeria, arguing that individuals who act with integrity are often targeted by those seeking to discredit them.

“Nigeria is a criminalised place. The criminals will always come together to show what the honest person did,” he stated.

The NDC presidential candidate further lamented what he described as a reversal of moral values, where honesty is treated as wrongdoing while criminal conduct appears to be tolerated.

“In Nigeria, to be honest is to be a criminal. To be criminal is to be honest,” Obi said.

He reiterated that Nigeria could have built greater financial reserves if successive leaders had consistently protected public funds and allowed them to generate returns instead of diverting them.

“We would have been worth so much that we don’t know what to do with money,” he added.

Obi also addressed questions about his administration’s approach to publicising government projects, explaining that he believed the results of governance should speak for themselves because the projects were funded with taxpayers’ money.

“We did what we were doing with public money, so the public already see us working, so why are we going to do the ceremony or showing it on TV? Maybe I was wrong, but that was what happened,” he said.

The former governor also defended his record in basic education, maintaining that Anambra State performed exceptionally well in the sector during his tenure.

“I was the best in education, basic education as a governor. You can go and check the records,” Obi said.

Why Is Arokodare Not Playing More At Ajax? Janssen Raises Concerns.

Former Netherlands midfielder Theo Janssen has questioned whether Tolu Arokodare’s loan arrangement is affecting the Nigerian striker’s playing time at Ajax, despite his impressive performances for the Dutch club.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Janssen raised the issue while appearing on Ziggo Sport’s Rondo programme, suggesting that Ajax’s decision to sign Marcos Leonardo on a permanent deal could be influencing the coach’s team selection.

“It has to do with money that he does not always play,” Janssen said, as quoted by Headtopics.

The former midfielder wondered whether Arokodare’s loan status, compared with Leonardo’s permanent contract, could be a factor in the coach’s decisions.

“Tolu is on loan, and Leonardo was bought. Do you think the trainer decides this?” he asked.

Janssen maintained that Arokodare deserved more opportunities, highlighting the striker’s physical strength, finishing ability and character.

“He is a nice guy when you hear him talk. He is strong and can score a goal. He is just a good player,” he added.

Arokodare has recorded nine goals and three assists in 14 appearances across all competitions since joining Ajax, performances that have strengthened his case for a more regular place in the team.

The 25-year-old recently scored the winning goal in Ajax’s 2-1 victory over Sparta Rotterdam on October 25. He also reached the milestone of 100 career goals during the club’s match against Atalanta on October 22.

Ajax signed the Nigerian striker on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers on July 29, after he struggled to establish himself during his first season at Molineux.

Reports indicate that Ajax are covering his full wages and paying a loan fee, with additional payments reportedly tied to qualification for European competitions. The agreement is also said to include an option to sign him permanently for approximately €22 million.

Arokodare is reportedly willing to make his stay at Ajax permanent, provided the club improves its salary offer. Ajax are also said to be interested in retaining the striker beyond the current season.
