APC Convention Tragedy: Lawyer Dies In Abuja Hotel Elevator, Security Alleges.

Published

New information has surfaced surrounding the tragic death of Barrister Abdulsalami Ginsau, a lawyer and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain from Kano State, who died in an elevator incident in Abuja.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Earlier reports suggested the lawyer suffocated after being trapped in a hotel lift on Friday. However, security operatives at the Utako-based hotel have offered a different account.

Danjuma Idris, a security officer on duty during the incident, alleged that the actions of APC national convention delegates contributed to the circumstances leading to Ginsau’s death. According to him, the elevator had been damaged prior to the tragedy due to misuse by convention attendees.

The security operative claimed that Ginsau did not die from suffocation but reportedly fell into the elevator shaft after stepping into a malfunctioning lift area. The late lawyer, staying on the third floor, had left his room around 6:30 am, unaware of the elevator fault.

“It is a sad development. The deceased might have been rescued if witnesses had raised the alarm promptly. Instead, some individuals who saw him fall failed to notify hotel staff and left the scene,” Idris said.

He also alleged that the hotel was overwhelmed by the number of delegates, particularly from Kano State, far exceeding its accommodation capacity. “You cannot book about 150 rooms and have nearly 2,000 people present, acting disorderly and intimidating hotel staff,” he added.

The lift, designed for six to eight persons, was often overloaded with 12 to 14 individuals, despite repeated warnings.

A senior hotel staff member, who spoke off the record due to ongoing police investigations, expressed concern over the conduct of some guests, noting that proper procedures were not followed and the incident was not immediately reported to management.

When contacted, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command confirmed the matter is under investigation. The APC national convention in Abuja was held from March 27 to 28, 2026.

“South Has Had More Time In Power” — Atiku Speaks On Zoning Debate

Published

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has argued that the North is not disadvantaged in Nigeria’s power-sharing arrangement under democratic rule.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Atiku made the statement during an interview on Arise Television, where he spoke on zoning, fairness, and political balance in the country.

He noted that since Nigeria’s return to civilian rule in 1999, the South has held the presidency for about 18 years, while the North has governed for roughly 10 years.

According to him, this should be taken into account when discussing which region has benefited more from the country’s power rotation system. He also maintained that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains the only major political party with zoning clearly embedded in its constitution.

“The South has governed for 18 years and the North for 10. So who is really in deficit if we are being fair? Even more broadly, the only party with zoning formally entrenched is the PDP,” he said.

Atiku also recalled the constitutional conference held during the military era under General Sani Abacha, where he led a group that opposed the inclusion of rotational presidency in the constitution.

He said the proposal, championed by the late former Vice President Alex Ekwueme, was rejected at the time because his group had majority support among delegates.

According to him, Ekwueme later acknowledged that the decision may not have been ideal during his funeral years later. Atiku added that he now believes a rotational system, if adopted earlier, could have ensured a more balanced distribution of power across Nigeria’s regions.
