“‘And So What?’ Drama As DSS Blocks Senator From Entering El-Rufai’s Car (Video)”.

The senator representing Kaduna Central, Lawal Adamu Usman, was prevented from entering a vehicle conveying former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, after court proceedings on Wednesday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Usman, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), was seen in a viral video attempting to enter a black SUV transporting El-Rufai.

Security operatives, including personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS), were present at the scene managing a crowd of journalists, supporters, and onlookers outside the court. As the SUV door opened, the senator moved toward the vehicle but was stopped by DSS officers, who blocked his access.

During the exchange, one operative was heard saying, “He’s a senator, and so what?”

Meanwhile, El-Rufai has attributed Nigeria’s economic challenges not to a lack of talent or resources, but to how the country’s most capable individuals are utilised.

In a statement shared on social media, he argued that many skilled Nigerians are drawn away from productive sectors into activities that offer quicker financial rewards due to the structure of incentives in the economy.

He explained that people tend to respond to systems that reward short-term gains, rather than long-term productivity, which ultimately hampers economic growth.

El-Rufai pointed to key indicators, noting that Nigeria’s GDP growth was about 4.1% in 2024, with GDP per capita around $1,084, placing the country among lower-income economies. He also highlighted that about 93% of the workforce operates in the informal sector, while the tax-to-GDP ratio stands at roughly 8.2%.

According to him, these figures reflect an economy where expanding businesses is risky, visibility can attract undue pressure, and long-term investments struggle to compete with short-term opportunities.

He warned that when top talent shifts away from productive ventures, it weakens entrepreneurship, slows innovation, and reduces long-term economic growth.

El-Rufai also identified structural issues such as unstable power supply, port delays, and limited formal job opportunities as barriers to business expansion.

Despite these challenges, he noted that sectors like non-oil exports—including cocoa, fertiliser, cashew, and processed agricultural goods—show that growth is possible when the right conditions are in place.

He called for reforms such as reducing excessive government control, ensuring predictable and digital regulations, strengthening property rights, and creating an environment that supports business growth.

El-Rufai concluded that Nigeria’s progress depends on rewarding productivity, stressing that sustainable growth will follow if the system prioritises producers over rent-seeking activities.

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has said he will not publicly disclose the private steps he has taken to demonstrate support for his detained predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sani made the statement amid growing scrutiny of his relationship with the former governor.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV’s Daily Politics, the Kaduna governor reaffirmed his deep respect for El-Rufai, stressing that he would not publicise every action he had taken to show his regard for him.

According to Sani, respect for someone does not require making private gestures or acts of support public.

“As a matter of respect, many things I’ve done to show my respect for him, my regard for him, I don’t think I should come out and say it. Because when you respect someone, you don’t come out to say certain things,” he said.

Nigeria Would Be So Rich If Everybody Left Money In The Bank – Peter Obi.

Published

on

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said Nigeria could have accumulated significant wealth if public funds had been consistently kept in banks to generate interest rather than being mismanaged.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Obi made the remark during an interview with a radio station in Nasarawa State on Wednesday.

According to the former Anambra State governor, the country’s financial position would have been considerably stronger if public office holders had protected government funds and allowed them to earn interest in financial institutions.

“I wish everybody in this country left money in the bank; they have interest. Nigeria would have been so rich that we don’t know what to do with money,” he said.

Obi disclosed that his administration kept public funds in three different banks, stressing the importance of safeguarding government resources.

He also criticised what he described as a culture of dishonesty in Nigeria, arguing that individuals who act with integrity are often targeted by those seeking to discredit them.

“Nigeria is a criminalised place. The criminals will always come together to show what the honest person did,” he stated.

The NDC presidential candidate further lamented what he described as a reversal of moral values, where honesty is treated as wrongdoing while criminal conduct appears to be tolerated.

“In Nigeria, to be honest is to be a criminal. To be criminal is to be honest,” Obi said.

He reiterated that Nigeria could have built greater financial reserves if successive leaders had consistently protected public funds and allowed them to generate returns instead of diverting them.

“We would have been worth so much that we don’t know what to do with money,” he added.

Obi also addressed questions about his administration’s approach to publicising government projects, explaining that he believed the results of governance should speak for themselves because the projects were funded with taxpayers’ money.

“We did what we were doing with public money, so the public already see us working, so why are we going to do the ceremony or showing it on TV? Maybe I was wrong, but that was what happened,” he said.

The former governor also defended his record in basic education, maintaining that Anambra State performed exceptionally well in the sector during his tenure.

“I was the best in education, basic education as a governor. You can go and check the records,” Obi said.

Why Is Arokodare Not Playing More At Ajax? Janssen Raises Concerns.

Former Netherlands midfielder Theo Janssen has questioned whether Tolu Arokodare’s loan arrangement is affecting the Nigerian striker’s playing time at Ajax, despite his impressive performances for the Dutch club.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Janssen raised the issue while appearing on Ziggo Sport’s Rondo programme, suggesting that Ajax’s decision to sign Marcos Leonardo on a permanent deal could be influencing the coach’s team selection.

“It has to do with money that he does not always play,” Janssen said, as quoted by Headtopics.

The former midfielder wondered whether Arokodare’s loan status, compared with Leonardo’s permanent contract, could be a factor in the coach’s decisions.

“Tolu is on loan, and Leonardo was bought. Do you think the trainer decides this?” he asked.

Janssen maintained that Arokodare deserved more opportunities, highlighting the striker’s physical strength, finishing ability and character.

“He is a nice guy when you hear him talk. He is strong and can score a goal. He is just a good player,” he added.

Arokodare has recorded nine goals and three assists in 14 appearances across all competitions since joining Ajax, performances that have strengthened his case for a more regular place in the team.

The 25-year-old recently scored the winning goal in Ajax’s 2-1 victory over Sparta Rotterdam on October 25. He also reached the milestone of 100 career goals during the club’s match against Atalanta on October 22.

Ajax signed the Nigerian striker on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers on July 29, after he struggled to establish himself during his first season at Molineux.

Reports indicate that Ajax are covering his full wages and paying a loan fee, with additional payments reportedly tied to qualification for European competitions. The agreement is also said to include an option to sign him permanently for approximately €22 million.

Arokodare is reportedly willing to make his stay at Ajax permanent, provided the club improves its salary offer. Ajax are also said to be interested in retaining the striker beyond the current season.
