‘Enemies Unleashed Senseless Attack’ – Gov. Mutfwang Vows Swift Action After Plateau Massacre.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has assured residents that decisive measures are being taken to restore peace and prevent future attacks following the deadly assault on Angwan Rukuba in Plateau State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking during a statewide broadcast on Tuesday, Mutfwang confirmed that 28 lives were lost in Sunday’s attack but stressed that the state would not yield to fear or intimidation.

“It is with deep sorrow that I address you following the tragic incident in Angwan Rukuba, which claimed 28 innocent lives. Plateau State will not bow to fear. We shall emerge stronger, united, and committed to peace,” he said.

Describing the attack as senseless, the Governor said the victims were law-abiding citizens caught off guard. He offered condolences to affected families and outlined security measures, including mobilising security agencies and imposing a 48-hour curfew in Jos North to allow thorough operations.

Mutfwang said he personally visited the attack site alongside security chiefs to evaluate the situation and strengthen preventive measures. He also visited the injured at Jos University Teaching Hospital, assuring that the government would cover all medical expenses.

“The enemies of peace carried out this attack at about 7:30 p.m. I am encouraged that most of the injured are stable, and the Plateau State Government will take full responsibility for their treatment,” he stated.

The Governor confirmed that a suspect had been arrested and promised swift justice for those involved. He also assured families of the deceased of government support, including dignified burials and aid for dependents.

As part of broader security measures, Mutfwang directed strict enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycles within the Jos Greater Master Plan and called for cooperation from residents.

“We will continue to work closely with security agencies to restore calm, apprehend perpetrators, and prevent any recurrence. This tragic incident reminds us all of the importance of unity, vigilance, and collective responsibility,” he added.

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to claims by Governor Ademola Adeleke that local government officials under the party diverted about ₦300 billion meant for workers’ salaries.

Adeleke had made the allegation during a stakeholders’ meeting, accusing APC-controlled council officials of hijacking funds and forcing the state government to shoulder salary payments for local government workers, teachers, health staff, and pensioners for over a year.
