Breaking: Niger South Senator Dumps PDP For APC.
Senator Peter Jiya of Niger South has officially quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
During Tuesday’s Senate plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read Jiya’s resignation letter, in which he cited persistent internal crises and irreconcilable divisions within the PDP as reasons for his departure.
Jiya’s letter stated, “I wish to notify you and the Senate that I have resigned my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party effective today. This action is premised on quarrels and irreconcilable divisions within the party.”
He added that he is joining the APC to continue his political journey: “Effective today, I have decided to join and be associated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to continue my political career.”
The senator also expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing him the platform to serve the nation, wishing the party well if it resolves its internal issues.
With Jiya’s defection, the Senate composition now stands at: APC — 86; ADC — 9; PDP — 7; NNPP — 1; NDC — 1; APGA — 1; SDP — 1. Three seats remain vacant due to the recent deaths of Senators Barinada Mpigi, Godiya Akwashiki, and Okey Ezea.
