The Federal Government has awarded N2.5 billion in grants to 45 top student ventures at the 2026 Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG) Bootcamp and Awards, held at the UNDP Innovation Hub in Lagos.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The winners were chosen from 65 finalists following a rigorous screening process, the Federal Ministry of Education stated.

Speaking at the event, Education Minister Maruf Tunji Alausa said the program underscores the government’s commitment to transforming tertiary institutions into centers of innovation, entrepreneurship, and practical problem-solving under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Beneficiaries can access up to ₦50 million in equity-free funding, along with mentorship, incubation support, and digital tools. We received over 30,000 applications from 404 institutions,” Alausa said.

Communications and Digital Economy Minister Bosun Tijani highlighted the importance of digital innovation in shaping future businesses, while Suwaiba Said Ahmad commended the finalists for their creativity and determination.

Other stakeholders, including Muntari Dandutse and Elsie Attafuah, called for continued investment in youth-led innovation to sustain momentum and drive Nigeria’s economic growth.

  • Specific Constituency Wins: Notable winners included Hussaini Yusuf Datti in Dawakin Kudu (Kano), Yakubu Ali in Disina (Bauchi), Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a in Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye (Gombe), and Okolosi Ator in Udu (Delta). The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) secured the Sakwa State Constituency seat in Bauchi.

  • Strategic Implication for 2027: Keyamo noted that the geographic spread is highly significant when considering the constitutional requirement for presidential candidates to secure at least 25% of the votes in two-thirds of the states and the FCT.
