Fayose made the remarks on Sunday while speaking at the PDP national convention held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. Representing the Ekiti delegation, he noted that all 88 delegates from the state were present and aligned with the party’s direction.

He also emphasised the need for unity within the PDP, stressing that members must respect and abide by court decisions, even when they choose to challenge them through appeals.

“There is only one PDP. Once the court has spoken, we must respect it. We sometimes undermine the judiciary ourselves. If necessary, we can appeal, but we must not disregard its rulings. Nyesom Wike is the national leader of our party, and we made him so because of his contributions. He leads, and we follow,” Fayose said.

Meanwhile, Fayose predicted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar could emerge as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He also acknowledged the influence of Peter Obi, describing him as a strong and respected political figure whose presence significantly shaped the 2023 elections. However, Fayose suggested that while Obi remains a key player, winning the presidency at this stage may still be a tough challenge, adding that the ADC could struggle electorally without his participation.

Obasanjo contrasted his unfamiliarity with modern pop stars by highlighting his personal relationships with global high-profile figures. He noted that he personally received the late Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Nigeria and that King Charles III once welcomed him at his farm in Wales.

The playful banter stemmed from an earlier moment in the interview when Isbae U boasted about having an international audience, which prompted Obasanjo to playfully tease him for having viewers abroad despite never traveling to the UK or the US.
