Gawuna Poised To Join ADC Amid Growing Political Realignments.

Published

Dr. Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, a former Kano State governorship candidate under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023, is set to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as part of ongoing political realignments ahead of upcoming elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The move was confirmed by ADC Kano State Chairman, Musa Shuaibu Ungogo, who told DAILY POST that discussions with Gawuna have been completed and plans are underway for his formal induction into the party.

Ungogo explained that the party is first finalizing the reception of former national political figure, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, after which Gawuna will be officially welcomed.

“Dr. Nasir Yusuf Gawuna has expressed his intention to join the ADC, and we are very pleased. We are concluding arrangements to receive Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and once that is done, Gawuna will follow. A date will be fixed for his formal defection,” Ungogo said.

The ADC leader added that both Kwankwaso and Gawuna are motivated by concerns over Northern Nigeria’s challenges, especially insecurity and socio-economic issues.

“Their focus is the North. They are patriotic leaders committed to addressing the region’s problems and believe the ADC provides an opportunity to tackle these challenges,” he noted.

The party has recently gained increased political attention, with analysts suggesting that these high-profile defections could position the ADC as a major political force.

However, observers warn that internal dynamics, particularly the race for the party’s presidential ticket, may test unity. Potential contenders like Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and Peter Obi could influence the party’s cohesion ahead of primaries.

Recent political visits hint at possible alignments: Peter Obi visited Kwankwaso in Kano during Sallah, while Kwankwaso also met with Atiku Abubakar over the weekend.

Despite these developments, analysts stress that Nigeria’s political landscape remains fluid, with alliances likely to shift as events unfold.
