Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Oyo State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Adeshina Adewale, popularly known as ‘Excel’, has resigned from the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Adewale left alongside APGA’s South-West chairman, all 33 local government chairmen in the state, and the state women leader in what appears to be a coordinated defection.

Other officials who resigned include Hon. Adewale Hamzat (Vice Chairman, Oyo South), Hon. Olanrewaju Joshua (Vice Chairman, Oyo Central), Hon. Bakare Mumin Awayewaserere (Oluyole Chairman), Hon. Adewale Adeogun (Lagelu), and Fashola Taiwo (Ibadan North-East Chairman), among others.

Adewale described his exit as a personal decision, stating that he will announce his next political step in due course as the 2027 elections draw near.

His departure is expected to affect APGA’s political prospects in Oyo State, where the party had already started preparations for the polls.

The scale of the defection has sparked speculation about his possible alignment with another major party and highlighted internal challenges within APGA’s state chapter, leaving the party to reorganize and fill leadership gaps ahead of the elections.

Observers are closely watching Adewale’s next move, given its potential impact on the political balance in Oyo State.

Political Earthquake: APC Rejects Review Of Primary Results, Leaving Aggrieved Aspirants In The Cold.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially closed the door on any potential review of its 2027 primary election results, despite ongoing protests and petitions from dissatisfied aspirants.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Party leadership has confirmed that work on the submitted results is complete, and the final list of candidates is being prepared for upload to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. A senior official and member of the National Working Committee (NWC), speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated that no changes to the results are being considered, noting that the official timeline for primaries and appeals has already elapsed.

Response to Petitions

While many aggrieved aspirants—particularly from states like Lagos, Delta, Zamfara, Kogi, Rivers, Plateau, and Osun—have demanded fresh primaries, the party maintains that most of these complaints are without merit.

  • Frivolous Claims: According to party officials, reports from the election appeal panels found that many petitions were “frivolous” or centered on issues outside the scope of the primary process, such as pre-primary zoning disputes or candidate clearance concerns.

  • Limited Impact: The party noted that the vast majority of the 109 senatorial districts and 360 House of Representatives constituencies did not record any appeals, and valid appeals did not significantly alter the primary outcomes.

Impact on Candidates

The primaries, held between May 16 and 18, saw at least 54 serving federal lawmakers lose their bids for return tickets. As the party awaits the release of INEC access codes for its nomination portal, the leadership remains firm that the announced results are final and that no further review will be conducted.
