While describing the ICPC’s decision to free El-Rufai to attend his mother’s funeral as humane, Adeyanju emphasized that since the former governor was remanded by a court, any release must have judicial approval.

“The decision to grant Mallam Nasir El-Rufai temporary release from ICPC custody to attend his mother’s burial is both humane and commendable, but it must be supported by a court order,” he said.

Adeyanju added that such measures strike a balance between justice and human dignity, noting that temporary release should not be seen as evading accountability.

“This action reflects a lawful and compassionate accommodation, showing empathy while upholding the rule of law,” he stated.
