“PDP Backs Lamido: ‘What Wike Saw Has Now Been Confirmed’”

The Jigawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has welcomed the growing alignment between former Governor Sule Lamido and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The party said Lamido’s decision to support Wike’s faction is consistent with its own position amid the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP.
Lamido had earlier urged party members to put aside their differences and rally behind Wike’s camp.
Reacting to the development, the PDP spokesman in Jigawa State, Umar Kyari, stated in an interview that the position championed by Wike’s faction is grounded in legal considerations, which explains Lamido’s stance.
According to him:
“The issue is about what the law permits. When the tenure of the previous leadership ended, a caretaker committee became necessary to avoid leaving the party without a structure.”
Kyari added that Wike, whom he described as well-versed in legal matters, had anticipated the situation that eventually led to the court’s ruling affirming the caretaker committee.
“What Wike foresaw has now been confirmed by the court, which upheld the legitimacy of the committee,” he said.
He also took a swipe at some PDP governors who had earlier opposed Lamido’s ambitions, noting that several of them have since defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
