“‘No One Can Sack MC Oluomo Except Tinubu’ – Lawyer Speaks Out”.
The lawyer for Ibikunle Tajudeen Baruwa, Barrister Tolu Babaleye, has accused Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, of defying court judgments.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, Babaleye alleged that MC Oluomo has been acting with impunity because he enjoys the support of President Bola Tinubu. He claimed that despite a valid court ruling removing MC Oluomo from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) presidency, the union leader continues to occupy the office illegally.
Babaleye expressed frustration over repeated disregard for judicial authority and said Baruwa’s recognition as the legitimate NURTW President has been ignored.
He stated:
“In my experience, once a judgment is delivered, it is usually respected, especially the final court ruling. But in this case, it has been extremely difficult. We have written to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and even the National Security Adviser (NSA), but no meaningful action has been taken.”
He added that security authorities attempted to engage MC Oluomo, but he ignored the official invitation:
“The NSA invited MC Oluomo to Lagos, but he didn’t show up. His lawyer attended instead. When a follow-up date was given, he refused to comply. It’s as if he is above the law. He keeps dropping names linked to the Presidency, claiming protection.”
Babaleye also revealed that MC Oluomo told the Minister of Labour that only the President could remove him from office:
“During a meeting with the Minister of Labour, he openly declared that only the President of Nigeria can tell him to vacate the office. If the President orders it today, he will leave today. What kind of impunity is that?”
According to Babaleye, Baruwa’s camp has spent the past year trying to bring the matter to the President’s attention through petitions and media publications, but received no response.
He said:
“Nearly a year ago, we reached out to the President and published notices in newspapers, including The Nation, to ensure he would see them. Yet, nothing happened. Everyone involved keeps invoking the President’s name, suggesting he is enabling this illegality. We hope the President will clarify who is right and who is wrong.”
