“Nigeria Produces Crude Oil – Fuel Shouldn’t Be This Expensive, Says Actor Okunnu”.

Nollywood actor Wale Akorede, popularly known as Okunnu, has expressed concern over the skyrocketing cost of petrol and its impact on Nigerians.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a video shared on Instagram, the actor highlighted a sharp jump in fuel prices, noting that petrol increased from ₦1,240 per litre on March 21 to ₦1,340 per litre the following day.

Okunnu questioned why fuel remains so expensive in a country that produces its own crude oil, pointing out the strain this places on ordinary citizens, particularly low-income earners and workers such as bikemen, who struggle to afford basic necessities as prices rise.

He said, “As of yesterday, March 21, petrol was ₦1,240 per litre. Today, March 22, it’s ₦1,340. Is this the government’s doing, or ours as Nigerians? We produce our own crude oil, so why is fuel so expensive? Other countries have oil too, but their fuel isn’t this costly. Who bears the burden of this hardship? What about bikemen and those with low incomes—how will they cope as prices keep rising?”

His comments come amid repeated price hikes by Dangote Petroleum Refinery this month. The refinery has raised its gantry price five times in March 2026, with the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit reaching ₦1,275 per litre.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
