The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has vowed to send election riggers, certificate forgers and compromised electoral officials to prison if elected President of Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Obi made the declaration on Wednesday while addressing supporters at an NDC town hall meeting in Nasarawa State.

When asked how the party would respond to attempts to manipulate the 2027 general elections, the former Anambra State governor said the NDC was prepared to confront anyone seeking to rig the polls.

“You didn’t ask about what we are going to do if people rig the election next year. Let me assure you, number one, this coming election, we will rig those who rig it,” he said.

Obi further promised that his administration would work to eliminate electoral fraud by strengthening political parties and improving the country’s electoral process.

He said, “And let me assure you, number two, if I’m elected the President of Nigeria, nobody will rig elections in this country again because the first thing we need to do is to strengthen our parties, strengthen the process.”

The NDC flagbearer also called for stricter requirements for anyone seeking elective office, insisting that candidates must provide clear and verifiable evidence of their primary and secondary education.

“Our laws will be strict. For you to contest election, you must have attended a primary school, you must have attended a secondary school and it will be visible, it will be clear,” he stated.

Obi warned that anyone who falsely claims to have attended school or presents forged academic certificates would face imprisonment.

“If you didn’t attend any of them or forge your certificate, you go to jail,” he added.

He also pledged to hold officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other individuals involved in election administration accountable if they compromised the process.

“Any INEC official, anybody who is involved with elections under my watch that rigs elections will go to jail,” Obi declared.

The former governor stressed that his administration would uphold the rule of law and ensure that no individual, regardless of their position, would be above it.

“Under my watch, Nigeria must be a country that has a law, and both from the number one person to the last person must obey the rule of law. Nobody must be above the law; nobody will behave rascally,” he said.

Obi told supporters that his presidential ambition was driven by a desire to transform the country and build a better future for Nigerians.

“That’s why we are doing what we are doing. We want to change Nigeria. A new Nigeria is possible, and that new Nigeria will be OK,” he added.

reports that the actor had approached the court seeking ₦10 billion in damages over the alleged publication of his personal data in INEC’s database.

In the suit, Emeka Ike accused Olayinka and INEC of causing him significant hardship and damage through the alleged disclosure. He asked the court to award him compensation and declare their actions illegal and unconstitutional.

However, delivering judgment on Wednesday, Justice Salim Ibrahim of the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed the case for lacking merit.

The judge held that the actor had failed to establish his claims against the defendants with credible evidence, ruling in favour of Olayinka and INEC.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the judgment, Emeka Ike questioned the meaning of fundamental human rights, expressing concern that people could suffer alleged violations, online bullying and public embarrassment without obtaining justice.

He said: “It’s even crazy that your right will be violated and the judge will tell you it’s not a fundamental human right. Then what is a fundamental human right? The embarrassment, the bullying online.”

Court Delivers Major Blow To Emeka Ike, Dismisses ₦10bn Suit Against Wike’s Aide, INEC.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a ₦10 billion lawsuit filed by Nollywood actor Emeka Ike against Lere Olayinka, an aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that Justice Salim Ibrahim dismissed the suit on Wednesday, ruling that it was not properly filed and that the actor failed to present sufficient evidence to substantiate his claims.

Emeka Ike had instituted the case against Olayinka after the aide allegedly published details of the actor’s voter registration transfer from Imo State to Abuja on his account in May without his consent.

The actor argued that the publication violated his right to privacy and asked the court to award him ₦10 billion in damages.

He also sought an order compelling Olayinka to delete the post and issue a written apology.

However, Olayinka denied any wrongdoing, arguing that the document he shared contained only Ike’s name and passport photograph, which were already publicly available.

INEC also opposed the suit, maintaining that the information was not confidential and that the law permitted the commission to make certain voter registration details accessible to the public.

Olayinka further argued that he did not obtain the information unlawfully and was not responsible for safeguarding Ike’s personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023.

The court upheld the objections raised by Olayinka and INEC and dismissed the suit, holding that the actor had failed to prove his allegations.
