Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha, whose real name is Olanrewaju Omiyinka, has denied allegations of paedophilia and rape, claiming he was misled into the situation that led to his imprisonment.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking on Monday in an interview with veteran broadcaster Yinka Ayefele on Fresh FM, Baba Ijesha maintained his innocence and said he did not fully understand the severity of the accusations at the time.

“I am not a paedophile, I am not a rapist. It was destiny that punished me. I did not know the meaning of rapist or paedophile until the controversy. They said I used a car key to deflower the minor. My side of the story will be revealed in a movie,” he said.

Recounting the events leading to his arrest, he alleged that he was invited under the guise of an acting role. “The incident happened on April 21, 2021. Princess…called me to say she was preparing my favourite food, pounded yam, crayfish, egusi soup with bush meat,” he said, referring to actress Damilola Adekoya.

Baba Ijesha claimed he was unaware that he was being set up and believed he was rehearsing a scene for a movie, not being drawn into a criminal act. “I never knew they had already ganged up against me. One of them even said she would make sure I don’t come out alive,” he said.

He admitted that both the food and promised payment influenced his participation. “Gluttony is also part of it, and the proposed money as well. I do not like to snub or disrespect ladies, which is why I agreed to the role. That was how it happened, and God is my witness,” he added.

Baba Ijesha was convicted in July 2022 by a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja for sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child, receiving a five-year and three-year sentence to run concurrently.

The actor said his side of the story would soon be told in a movie and has already released a 10-minute track titled Eniware Daran last month to share his perspective.
