FG Opens Niger Delta Development Commission Scholarship Portal, Announces Deadline, See Full Details.

The Federal Government, through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has opened applications for its foreign master’s postgraduate scholarship programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement shared on its official handle on Monday, the commission announced that the application portal will run from March 23, 2026, to April 19, 2026.

The NDDC explained that the programme is aimed at equipping young people from the Niger Delta with advanced education and professional skills, enabling them to contribute to local content development and compete globally.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must hold either a first-class or second-class upper degree from a recognised institution and must not be older than 40 years at the time of application.

Interested candidates are to apply online via the commission’s official website, submitting documents such as a recent passport photograph, Local Government Identification letter, postgraduate admission letter from a recognised foreign university, academic certificates, and either a National Youth Service Corps discharge or exemption certificate.

Each applicant will receive a registration number after submission and is advised to print an acknowledgement slip for reference.

Selection Process

The selection process will begin with a preliminary screening based on WASSCE or NECO results, degree classification, and Local Government identification.

Shortlisted candidates will proceed to a computer-based test to be conducted in Rivers State, where they must score at least 70 per cent to advance.

Successful applicants will then undergo further screening and final verification through their respective Local Government Areas and Community Development Committees.

The commission stated that the scholarship is fully funded and will be awarded based on the prevailing exchange rate of the naira.

Preference will be given to candidates from oil-producing states in the Niger Delta, including Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers.

The NDDC added that changes of course or institution, as well as deferment of the award, will not be allowed. It also emphasised that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and that it retains the final authority on all selections.

Shock In Benue As Police Nab Seven Over Abduction Of JAMB Candidates.

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of seven suspected militia herdsmen in connection with the abduction of passengers travelling in an 18-seater Benue Links bus along the Makurdi–Otukpo road last Wednesday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The victims, which included candidates of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) heading to Otukpo for their examinations, have all been successfully rescued.

Speaking while briefing Governor Hyacinth Alia in Makurdi during the presentation of the freed victims, the Commissioner of Police, Ifeanyi Emenari, said the rescue operation was achieved through coordinated efforts of multiple security agencies.

He explained that five of the abducted passengers were first released, while the remaining 13 were rescued on Sunday morning without injuries.

According to him, the combined pressure from security forces, supported by the state government and the Inspector-General of Police, led to the successful outcome of the operation.

Emenari further disclosed that eight suspects are currently in custody, adding that seven of them are strongly linked to the kidnapping incident, with some victims already identifying them.

He also noted that clearance operations have begun across forest areas in the state to flush out criminal groups, in line with directives from security authorities.

Governor Hyacinth Alia, while receiving the rescued passengers, expressed concern over rising cases of kidnapping in the state but welcomed the safe return of all 18 victims.

He confirmed that among those rescued were eight candidates on their way to write examinations, and called on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to reschedule the affected exams for them.

He further directed the state health authorities to conduct medical evaluations for all rescued persons and promised government support for those affected.
