The state APC Chairman, Tukur Danfulani Maikatako, announced this during a stakeholders’ meeting at the party secretariat in Gusau on Saturday.

Describing the governor’s defection as a positive development, Maikatako noted that APC remains a political home for Lawal.

“Zamfara has long been one of our strongholds, and the governor was once a bonafide member. Now that he has returned, satisfied that APC is his preferred choice after leaving his former party, we welcome him back,” he said.

Maikatako added that Vice President Shettima, along with the party’s national leadership, would lead the grand reception in honour of the governor. He urged party members across the state to turn out in large numbers, emphasizing the visit’s importance for strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

“I call on all members across the 147 wards in our 14 local government areas to come out en masse to honour the Presidential visit. This event is key to boosting APC’s strength and popularity before the 2027 general elections,” he said.

The chairman also encouraged members to set aside internal differences and embrace unity within the party.

“I urge all members to forget past frictions and focus on our shared goal of making Zamfara and Nigeria great again,” he added.

Former state APC chairman, Lawali Liman, also called on members to spread the message of unity in their wards and local government areas. He emphasized that the party remains a united platform with common goals and stressed the need for collective effort to consolidate APC’s strength and secure victories in future elections.
