The suit, FHC/MISC/152/2026, was filed to protect the residents from persistent threats of demolition and forceful eviction. According to their lawyer, Femi Dodo, authorities allegedly began moves to demolish properties despite residents’ long-standing occupation of the area, with many having lived there for over five decades.

After reviewing the application, the court directed all respondents to refrain from entering the communities to demolish, vandalize, or evict residents until the main suit is determined. The court also allowed the applicants to serve all legal processes, including the originating summons and interim order, on the respondents.
