The governor made the appeal during a statewide address, where he also sought forgiveness for any shortcomings in his administration. He asked for the understanding of the people while reaffirming his commitment to protecting lives and property.

Expressing sympathy for victims of insecurity, Zulum acknowledged their resilience as the backbone of the state. He stressed that unity and collective prayers are essential in overcoming Borno’s challenges.

As political activities intensify, the governor warned against actions that could undermine the fragile peace in the state. He said, “My dear people, as the political season heats up, tensions may rise. But we must align our political interests with the realities of our security situation. Let us not allow politics to erode the hard-earned peace we have built.”

Zulum urged political aspirants and their supporters to prioritize the interests of Borno State over personal ambitions. He reiterated his loyalty to Vice President Shettima, emphasizing that it remains unquestionable. “Since assuming office in 2019, I have conducted myself with fairness, justice, and inclusivity across the political spectrum. My loyalty to His Excellency, the Vice President, is unwavering,” he said.

The governor highlighted the trust he has maintained with political stakeholders at both state and national levels, adding, “I have never betrayed the confidence of members of the national and state assemblies or other political office holders from Borno.”

Zulum also issued a stern warning to anyone aiding insurgents, declaring that those providing information, shelter, or logistical support to criminal elements will be identified, tracked, and prosecuted.

He commended President Bola Tinubu for releasing funds to support the Multi-National Joint Task Force and other military operations, describing the intervention as critical in sustaining the fight against insurgency. Zulum further thanked Vice President Shettima for representing the President during a recent sympathy visit to the state.

The exam, conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), will run from April 16 to April 22 in multiple daily sessions.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, urged examination officials to remain highly committed and professional, noting that the success of the exercise depends largely on their dedication.

He gave the charge during a virtual final briefing for technical officers ahead of the examination, where he also praised staff, ad hoc personnel, service providers, and technical advisers for their roles in the successful conduct of the mock exam.

Oloyede said many of the issues recorded during the mock exercise were due to poor assessment of centres by some technical officials.

He further stated that incentive packages would be awarded to teams that perform exceptionally, particularly in handling exam materials and submitting timely reports.

Reiterating JAMB’s zero-tolerance stance on malpractice, he warned candidates against bringing prohibited items into examination halls.

He also disclosed that biometric verification and real-time monitoring systems have been deployed to protect the integrity of the exercise.

Candidates whose biometrics cannot be verified, he added, will be rescheduled to write the exam at approved centres.

Meanwhile, a NAN correspondent monitoring proceedings at Aduvie International School, Jahi, reported that the first session scheduled for 8:30 a.m. began slightly behind schedule at about 8:40 a.m.
