The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has maintained that internal disagreements or reconciliation efforts will not disrupt the party’s planned national convention.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The statement was made on Wednesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP Caretaker Committee, Jungudo Haruna, during a pre-convention press briefing where he outlined the timetable leading up to the March 29–30 gathering.

Haruna emphasized that ongoing discussions or negotiations within the party will not delay or alter the convention process. “Reconciliation is an ongoing process, but it cannot prevent the caretaker committee from carrying out the convention,” he said. He added that the existence of the caretaker committee and the conduct of the National Convention remain non-negotiable.

He confirmed that the party will release the names of members of the National Convention Planning and Organising Committee, along with its subcommittees, on Thursday. These groups will handle critical areas such as venue arrangements, security, accreditation, media, protocol, electoral matters, zoning, screening, and medical services.

The committees are scheduled to be inaugurated on Saturday, March 21, at 8 p.m., with the venue to be announced. The Zoning Committee will meet the following day, March 22, to decide how party positions will be distributed across the country’s geopolitical zones, a move that often influences convention outcomes.

An emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting is set for Monday, March 23, at 12 noon at the FCT Minister’s Lodge in Life Camp, Abuja. Immediately after, the sale of nomination forms will begin, running until March 25 at 3 p.m. Appeals arising from the screening process will be heard on Thursday, March 26, concluding by 7 p.m.

The PDP also stressed that all procedures comply with electoral requirements, noting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been notified and has supervised the party’s ward, local government, and state congresses. Haruna confirmed that state congresses have been completed following a court ruling, with only zonal congresses for the South-East and North-West scheduled for Saturday.

Oloyede said many of the issues recorded during the mock exercise were due to poor assessment of centres by some technical officials.

He further stated that incentive packages would be awarded to teams that perform exceptionally, particularly in handling exam materials and submitting timely reports.

Reiterating JAMB’s zero-tolerance stance on malpractice, he warned candidates against bringing prohibited items into examination halls.
