“ACF Demands Urgent Shake-Up Of Nigeria’s Security As Terror Attacks Surge”.
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has urged a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s national security strategies, warning that failure to act could plunge the country into chaos amid rising extremism and insurgency. According to the group, recent deadly attacks in Borno, Plateau, and other states have highlighted the urgent need for decisive measures to protect citizens and communities.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement issued by ACF National Publicity Secretary, Prof. T. A. Muhammad-Baba, the forum expressed deep concern over the bomb blast in Maiduguri, Borno State, on 16 March 2026, which left multiple casualties and caused widespread damage. The incident followed earlier attacks on military formations in the state, resulting in the deaths of soldiers and the destruction of key military assets.
Similar violent attacks in Plateau State and previous incidents in Katsina, Kwara, Niger, and Zamfara states have compounded the nation’s security challenges. The ACF emphasized that these attacks have led to loss of lives and property, disrupted livelihoods, and fractured social cohesion, describing them as part of a coordinated strategy by extremists intent on destabilizing communities.
Muhammad-Baba noted that Boko Haram, religious extremists, insurgents, and criminal elements have consistently employed such tactics, often boasting about their actions. The forum condemned the attacks as “dastardly and evil,” extending condolences to victims, families, and the Nigerian government.
While acknowledging ongoing efforts by federal and state security agencies, the ACF stressed that more must be done. The forum called for an uncompromising use of political will and demonstrable force to confront terror groups wherever they operate, warning that continued inaction could push Nigeria toward widespread anarchy and insecurity.
The statement concluded that unless authorities adopt decisive and effective measures, the country faces an escalating existential threat, and superficial public assurances cannot replace tangible action against the scourge of terrorism, insurgency, and banditry.
