NNPP Slams Kwankwaso: Allegations Against Tinubu Are Empty Blackmail.
According to reports, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has attributed its ongoing legal battles and internal defections to former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso. In a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos, NNPP National Secretary Ogini Olaposi described the allegations as “lazy, empty blackmail.” He noted that it was Kwankwaso, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, who attempted to seize control of the party, leading to court cases and defections among members.
Olaposi urged members who had left for other parties to return, emphasizing that the NNPP remains a strong contender for the 2027 general elections. He highlighted that the 2025 national convention in Lagos resolved that loyalty would be rewarded with automatic tickets.
The party has also begun re-registration of members in compliance with INEC guidelines, aiming to strengthen its human and organizational structure ahead of the 2027 polls. Olaposi reaffirmed the NNPP’s commitment to serving the people and being a responsible political partner in Nigeria, stating that the party’s mission is not to fight others for power, which belongs to God, but to serve Nigerians.
