“Kwankwaso Mourns 23 Dead, 100 Injured In Borno Suicide Bombings”.
The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has expressed profound sorrow over the multiple suicide bombings that struck Maiduguri, Borno State, on Monday evening. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Kwankwaso described the attacks as a “disturbing resurgence of senseless terrorism that threatens the peace our communities have worked so hard to restore after years of relative calm,” emphasizing that such violence cannot be tolerated.
He urged the nation to reject defensiveness and complacency, calling for the armed forces to be fully empowered to take decisive, proactive measures against the perpetrators. Kwankwaso also appealed to both federal and state governments to provide all necessary resources and support to ensure the military can effectively dismantle terrorist networks.
Expressing solidarity with the victims, Kwankwaso extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, the injured, and all residents of Borno State, while commending the government and citizens for their resilience during this difficult period.
