The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has dismissed claims by Governor Ademola Adeleke that the party plans to leverage federal influence to manipulate the forthcoming governorship election set for August 15, 2026.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued on Sunday, APC Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, described the allegations as baseless, insisting the party has no intention of interfering with the electoral process through unlawful means.

Olabisi said the governor’s remarks emerged following a stakeholders’ meeting of the Accord Party, where Adeleke reportedly accused the APC of intending to deploy federal authority during the election. The spokesman rejected the claims, stressing that the party is committed to a free and fair electoral process.

“The opposition party has no plan to manipulate the election using federal might. We believe we can win based on our growing support across the state,” Olabisi said.

He added, “The allegation that the APC intends to rely on federal influence is purely imaginary and propagated by rumour mongers. Our focus has been on legitimate political mobilisation and strategic planning, which will determine the outcome of the election.”

The spokesman noted that the APC’s campaign efforts have gained significant traction across the state as the election approaches. He also highlighted recent defections from the governor’s political camp to the APC, naming Shuaib Oyedokun, Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, Wole Oke, Dotun Babayemi, and Akin Ogunbiyi as examples. According to the party, these shifts reflect changing political alignments in the state and strengthen its prospects ahead of the election.

Olabisi expressed confidence in the APC governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), noting that he has been receiving increasing support across communities.

“Our candidate is a serious contender who intends to win the August 2026 election convincingly and without resorting to fraudulent tactics,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has continued to voice concerns about potential voter intimidation ahead of the election. During a meeting with leaders and ward officials of the Accord Party across Osun State’s 332 wards in Osogbo, he cautioned against misuse of federal authority in the electoral process.

“Federal might is for good governance, not election rigging,” the governor said. He urged residents to remain vigilant and ensure that the election reflects the genuine will of the people.

“Only the votes of the people will determine who governs the state,” Adeleke added.

reports that the party made its position known during an emergency press conference in Ilorin on Friday, describing the development as politically motivated and unjust.

He alleged that the move was targeted at dragging Saraki into a case in which, according to him, legal authorities had previously found no evidence linking him to the incident.

Adewara referenced earlier legal opinions from the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, which reportedly stated that Saraki was not connected to the robbery case.

The party insisted that suspects in the case had already been prosecuted and convicted, with judgments upheld at appellate levels, while the matter is currently before the Supreme Court.

He said: “I will be running for governor in the 2027 governorship election. I have come to plead with you to set up a small committee… to determine how we can collaborate to make this happen.”

He also questioned whether Ogun State would experience a “coronation” or a competitive election process, urging stakeholders to allow open political contest.

The PDP chieftain noted that Ogun West’s long-standing exclusion from producing a governor is a legitimate grievance, but stressed that aspirations must still be tested through competition.
