Akwa Ibom RAAMP Threatens Contractors Over Abandoned Projects.

The Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) in Akwa Ibom State has issued a stern warning to contractors, cautioning against negligence or abandonment of state projects and indicating that failure to comply may lead to immediate contract revocation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Nivo News, the warning was delivered by the State Project Coordinator, Pastor Gideon Akpan, during an unannounced technical inspection of project sites in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area over the weekend. Represented by Lead Infrastructure Engineer Ekong Joseph Inyang, Akpan emphasized that delays would not be tolerated, especially as all contractors had been fully mobilized and compensated for their assignments.

Inyang expressed concern over the absence of contractors at key projects, including the 8.396 km Ikot Ekan-Ediene Abak Road, the 3.31 km Ikot Isong-Edeobom II Road, and the 2.044 km Ikot Itina-Oniong Road with a spur to Nsemeke Ikpe market. He highlighted that a significant portion of the work remained incomplete and warned that decisive action would be taken if contractors did not promptly return to the sites.

He further stressed that excuses citing multiple project assignments would not be accepted, noting that contractors are expected to possess sufficient manpower and equipment to handle several projects simultaneously. “Any contractor handling more than one job must do so concurrently, not sequentially,” he stated. Inyang described the current progress as unacceptable and confirmed that RAAMP is considering contract termination as a warning to others.

The project consultant, Engr. Kelvin Ndukwu, also expressed disappointment at the contractors’ absence, highlighting that the favorable weather could have facilitated project completion. He noted that all payments had been made, making the delay unjustifiable, and reiterated that contracts may be terminated in favor of more diligent contractors.

This development signals RAAMP’s commitment to enforcing strict adherence to project timelines and ensuring that public infrastructure projects are delivered efficiently.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
