Confusion broke out on Saturday during the Taraba State congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after the congress committee reportedly named two different individuals as the party’s consensus chairman.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The development sparked outrage among delegates and party members, leading to heated arguments and protests at the congress venue.

The drama began when a member of the congress committee announced Victor Samuel Falack as the consensus chairman for the state. Delegates reportedly applauded the announcement, believing the process had been concluded.

Observers said the initial declaration was met with excitement, as many delegates appeared satisfied that the party had reached a consensus.

However, the situation took a sudden turn when another committee member, reportedly arriving from Abuja, interrupted the proceedings and announced a different individual as the party chairman.

The conflicting declarations created confusion, prompting delegates to demand clarification from the congress committee.

The disagreement quickly escalated into chaos, with some delegates and party supporters storming out of the venue in protest. Witnesses said protesters chanted slogans, insisting that Falack’s earlier declaration be respected.

Some members also described the newly announced chairman as “unknown” within the party structure in Taraba State and accused the committee of attempting to impose a candidate against the delegates’ wishes.

Efforts by party officials to calm the situation reportedly failed, as tensions continued to rise.

As of the time of reporting, the final outcome of the congress remained uncertain. Concerned members have called on the PDP national leadership to urgently intervene and resolve the conflicting announcements to prevent further crisis in Taraba State.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
