“FG Alleges Plot To Undermine Nigeria Ahead Of Tinubu’s UK Visit”.

The Federal Government has accused Jupiter Ltd of planning a “campaign of calumny” against Nigeria ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s upcoming state visit to the United Kingdom.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development said the alleged campaign aims to tarnish ongoing reforms in the mining sector and mislead the international community regarding the revocation of certain mineral licences.

In a statement on Sunday, March 15, the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Segun Tomori, dismissed claims that Nigeria seized a British lithium project under armed guard, calling the report false and misleading. He added that the Federal Government has no legal or contractual ties with any company called Jupiter Lithium, noting that Nigerian mining laws prohibit foreign firms from directly holding mineral titles.

“It has come to the Ministry’s attention that an embattled mining company, Jupiter Ltd, intends to orchestrate a campaign of calumny against the Federal Government during President Tinubu’s state visit to the United Kingdom,” the statement read.

Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Minister, Kehinde Bamigbetan, responded to what the ministry described as a “tissue of falsehoods” in a publication titled ‘Nigeria Seizes British Lithium Project Under Armed Guard.’ Their rebuttal, titled ‘In Nigeria’s Mining Sector, The Law Is No Respecter of Persons,’ highlighted the activities of Steve Davis and Hamish MacDonald, whose business dealings in Nigeria’s mining sector were ultimately addressed under the law.

The ministry said the dispute follows the revocation of mineral titles held by Basin Mining Ltd, a Nigerian company linked to Australian national Steve Davis. The revocation was due to the company’s failure to meet statutory financial obligations under Nigerian mining regulations.

Tomori stated that Basin Mining Ltd failed to pay statutory annual service fees totaling ₦2.494 billion for 2024 and 2025, covering mineral titles 45454ML, 45117ML, 45118ML, 40532ML, and 40533ML. These titles were revoked after due notice in accordance with existing regulations.

The ministry also denied allegations that the licences were reassigned to a Chinese company, calling such claims fabricated to mislead the public and international stakeholders.

It further alleged that Davis held interests in multiple Nigerian mining firms, including Comet Minerals Ltd, Basin Mining Ltd, Range Mining Ltd, Northern Numero Ltd, Sunrise Minerals Ltd, and Iron Ore Mining Ltd. The ministry said such arrangements were often used by speculators to acquire mineral titles without conducting actual mining, contributing to dormant licences and illegal mining activities in the country.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria will not be intimidated or blackmailed into halting reforms by the actions of any individual or company,” Tomori said. “Our commitment to transforming the mining sector into a key contributor to the nation’s GDP remains steadfast.”

“We Will Rig You!”: Peter Obi Issues Explosive Warning To INEC Over Alleged Election Manipulation!.

Published

on

During a recent visit to Washington, D.C., Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), argued that the prevalence of election rigging in Nigeria is largely due to voters failing to actively defend their ballots. Obi emphasized that while candidates play a role in the process, credible outcomes ultimately depend on citizens remaining at their polling units to ensure votes are counted transparently. He criticized the “transactional” nature of Nigerian politics, suggesting that many voters prioritize other activities over the essential task of monitoring the electoral process. According to Obi, Nigeria’s primary challenge is poor political leadership, and he urged citizens to take collective ownership of their votes to demand the accountable governance required for the country to succeed.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for increased citizen involvement in protecting electoral integrity. During a recent trip to Washington, D.C., Obi stated that election manipulation persists because voters frequently leave polling stations before the counting process is completed. He argued that:

  • Voters must proactively defend their ballots at polling units to ensure transparency and prevent rigging.

  • Nigeria’s fundamental obstacle is a crisis of political leadership, rather than a lack of natural or human resources.

  • Real change requires Nigerians to move beyond passive participation and take active responsibility for the electoral process.
