• A Call for Caution: Describing himself as a veteran of 48 years in party politics, Okechukwu cautioned the President, stating, “Mr President, beware of pretenders,” while questioning why governors chose a public dispute instead of utilizing direct access to the presidency.

• Value of the Wike Alliance: Okechukwu defended the political partnership, emphasizing that Wike’s alliance helped boost APC votes and denied former Vice President Atiku Abubakar substantial votes in 2023. Shugaba-Abdullahi emerged victorious during the party’s substitution primary held on Tuesday in Lafia, the state capital, which also produced candidates for the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.

• Party Supervision: Dr. Peter Onigah, the NDC National Treasurer and Electoral Committee Chairman, noted that the process strictly followed the Electoral Act and was monitored by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
