Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has explained that his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alongside his political allies, was driven not by personal ambition but by a shared commitment to national progress and visionary leadership capable of tackling Nigeria’s socio-economic and political challenges.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Naija News, Tambuwal made the remarks on Thursday during the flag-off of a food distribution programme for residents and supporters loyal to him in Sokoto.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives described the move as a collective effort to safeguard Nigeria’s democracy and ensure responsible governance.

He emphasized that Nigerians are increasingly seeking purposeful leadership that restores trust in the political system, noting that the defection followed extensive consultations with seasoned politicians and university scholars to evaluate the country’s political direction.

Tambuwal observed that the political landscape is becoming increasingly polarized between supporters of the current administration and citizens dissatisfied with governance, corruption, and inefficiency at various levels, including in Sokoto State.

He said, “These consultations revealed growing concerns that the current political path could gradually push Nigeria toward a one-party state, which is unhealthy for a vibrant democracy.”

The former governor also highlighted that internal divisions and weakened structures within the PDP made it difficult for the party to operate effectively.

He added that approximately 1,900 political stakeholders were consulted before a unanimous decision was reached to adopt the ADC as their preferred platform.

Tambuwal expressed confidence that his new political alignment will enhance democratic competition and offer Nigerians credible alternatives ahead of upcoming elections.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.
