“Abia Government Warns Contractors, Supervisors: Stick Strictly To Project Standards”.

The directive came during a two-day workshop in Umuahia, organised for contractors and stakeholders involved in project execution across the state’s Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The Director-General of the Abia State Projects Implementation Bureau, Onyinye Nwosu, told participants that the government must receive full value for the funds spent on contracts.
He urged attendees to take the knowledge gained from the workshop back to their organisations and champion quality in public service, ensuring high standards are maintained across government institutions.
Nwosu emphasized the need for careful oversight to prevent costly mistakes during project execution, highlighting that quality control involves strict monitoring of materials used. He also stressed the importance of proper supervision of ongoing work and maintaining safe working conditions at project sites.
According to Nwosu, beyond proper planning and well-prepared engineering designs, the competence and professionalism of personnel on site are critical to project success.
He further affirmed that Governor Alex Otti is committed to fostering a culture of quality in governance and infrastructure development across Abia State.
