The announcement was made on Wednesday by Abdulrahman Mohammed, chairman of the faction’s National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC), following a meeting in Abuja.
Mohammed explained that this stance is based on the Appeal Court’s judgment in Abuja, delivered on Monday, March 9, 2026, regarding the national leadership of the PDP.
He urged all party members and supporters to unite behind the National Caretaker Working Committee as it prepares the party for the 2027 elections, including organizing the National Convention.
In a full statement, Mohammed said:
“Distinguished leaders of our great party, respected members of the Board of Trustees, ladies and gentlemen,
Let me begin by extending my warm regards and sincere gratitude to the BOT of our great party. On behalf of the National Caretaker Working Committee, I deeply appreciate your immense support and encouragement.
Yesterday, the NCWC, under my leadership, inspected the National Stadium in preparation for our National Convention. We have successfully conducted Ward and Local Government Congresses, and State Congresses in affected states will follow soon.
I sincerely thank our leaders for the platform and support provided to the NCWC. We are grateful for this opportunity.
Following the Appeal Court judgment, which ruled in our favour on nine appeals, I extend appreciation to our legal team, party leaders, members, and supporters for their guidance, prayers, and encouragement.
Let me emphasize: the National Caretaker Working Committee is the only legally recognized national leadership of the party and the sole body authorized to present candidates for the 2027 elections. I call on all stakeholders to rally behind the NCWC as we advance preparations for the elections. The Court has reaffirmed that the rule of law must guide our party’s internal affairs.
As we prepare for the National Convention, we await the Certified True Copy of the Court of Appeal judgments to ensure readiness for further defence at the Supreme Court, if necessary.
I urge all party stakeholders, leaders, and members to unite for the betterment of our party. Litigation must not delay our activities ahead of the 2027 general elections and off-season elections.
Finally, the BOT remains the conscience of the party, and we will continue working together to fulfill our mandate.
Thank you. May God bless you, the Peoples Democratic Party, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.
The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.
Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.
He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.
Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.
In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.
