Tinubu Orders Rollout Of CNG Kits As Petrol Prices Rise.

Published

on

President Bola Tinubu has directed the immediate rollout of about 100,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion kits across the country to help ease the burden of rising fuel prices on Nigerians.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The disclosure was made on Tuesday by Ismaeel Ahmed, Executive Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG), after a meeting with the President at Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

Ahmed explained that the conversion kits would be distributed within the next two to three weeks, allowing vehicle owners to modify their engines to run on gas.

He noted that the President has been closely monitoring global developments and their possible impact on Nigeria’s energy costs, especially the effect of tensions in the Middle East on transportation expenses.

According to Ahmed, the President sought updates on efforts by Pi-CNG and electric vehicle initiatives to expand access to gas and CNG nationwide so that Nigerians can benefit from cheaper transportation alternatives.

He further revealed that the kits will be deployed in partnership with various stakeholders and will primarily target commercial transport operators, including tricycle riders and vehicle owners.

Ahmed added that the planned rollout will lead to increased activity at conversion centres across the country as the programme gathers momentum.

The directive comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East involving Ali Khamenei and Benjamin Netanyahu, which have contributed to fluctuations in global fuel prices, with ripple effects also felt in Nigeria.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
