The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has approved the confirmation of appointment for 1,659 workers in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to a statement released on Sunday by Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the decision follows a confirmation examination conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, 2026.

A total of 2,281 workers participated in the exercise after being invited to sit for the test. The Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, disclosed that 2,512 workers were initially invited, but 224 officers did not attend, raising concerns that some names may not correspond to actual workers in the system.

The commission also noted that many of the staff who participated had been serving in the FCTA for years before receiving formal confirmation. Some were first employed in 2016 and 2019, while others joined shortly before Wike assumed office as FCT Minister in August 2023.

The confirmation exercise is part of ongoing efforts to regularize the employment status of workers who had been serving without permanent confirmation.

In a related development, Wike urged residents of the nation’s capital not to be misled by politicians seeking votes. He made the remark on Wednesday during his Thank You Visit to stakeholders in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), appreciating their support in ensuring the election of President Bola Tinubu’s supporters in the February 21 Area Council elections.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
