Iran Threatens To Seize Property Of Citizens Abroad Who Support U.S., Israel Attacks.

Published

Iran has warned that it will confiscate property and impose legal penalties on Iranians living abroad who show support for the United States and Israel following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The warning was issued on Monday by the Iranian prosecutor general’s office, coinciding with celebrations by members of the Iranian diaspora in European and American cities over Khamenei’s death.

On the same day, Mojtaba Khamenei was named as his father’s successor.

State media cited the prosecutor general’s office as saying: “Iranians living abroad who in any way sympathize with, support, or cooperate with the American-Zionist (Israeli) enemy will face confiscation of all their properties and other legal penalties under the law.”

Reports indicate that newly created Telegram channels have begun circulating personal details of prominent Iranians overseas who criticized Iran’s clerical authorities or expressed support for the US-Israeli military campaign that started on 28 February.

Members of the Iranian diaspora advocating political change in Tehran reportedly took to the streets in Europe and the United States to celebrate Khamenei’s death amid the ongoing conflict.

Between 5 and 10 million Iranians live abroad, with most residing in the US and Western Europe, according to government data and media reports.

The property seizure threat represents Tehran’s attempt to suppress criticism from expatriates living in countries where freedom of expression protects political speech.

While Iranian authorities have previously harassed diaspora members online and pressured family members still in Iran, this warning marks an escalation in Tehran’s efforts to control political discourse among citizens abroad.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
