Insiders told Sahara Reporters that Jimoh is expected to be both promoted and decorated on the same day, following a promotion exercise scheduled by police authorities.
Sources also revealed that Jimoh is lobbying to remain in Lagos after his promotion to head the Zone 2 Police Command, headquartered in Onikan, Lagos Island. The command is responsible for policing both Lagos and Ogun states.
Jimoh became the 41st Commissioner of Police in Lagos State in February 2025, succeeding Olanrewaju Ishola, who was redeployed to the Force Headquarters in Abuja. A senior police source confirmed, “Moshood Jimoh is set to be promoted on Tuesday. Meanwhile, he is lobbying to head Zone 2 in Lagos.”
Meanwhile, Tijani Fatai, a Lagos-born officer currently serving as Commissioner of Police for the Eastern Ports Command, has been named as a potential replacement for Jimoh. Sources noted that Fatai enjoys the backing of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. “Mr Tijani Fatai has been pencilled down for Lagos, supported by the Lagos governor,” the source added.
The Nigeria Police Force had earlier announced that a promotion examination and interactive session for senior officers seeking elevation to AIG would hold on March 10, 2026, at the Police Service Commission headquarters in Jabi, Abuja. The session is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m., with officers instructed to report by 7:00 a.m. for briefing and movement to the venue.
Those invited include Christopher Ado Emmanuel, Joseph Eribo, Miller Gajere Dantawaye, Henry Ifeanyi Uche, Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo, Mohammed Dahiru (FDC), Dankombo Faling Morris, Bello Shehu, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, Ahmed Musa, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, Simeon Jimoh, Udofia Akpanudom (FDC), and Haruna Oufemi. Miller Gajere Dantawaye currently serves as Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory Command, a position he assumed in October 2025.
The force has set a dress code for the exercise, requiring officers to wear conventional attire with black jackets, berets, and to carry swagger sticks. The examination will cover law, local acts, and professional studies.
For security, 12 armed officers from the Nigeria Police Mobile Force have been assigned for escort duties, while the transport department will provide operational vehicles, including two Hilux vans, to ferry the officers to and from the venue. Commands have been instructed to treat the exercise as “very important” to ensure the smooth conduct of the promotion interviews.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.
The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.
Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.
He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.
Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.
In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.
