Fani-Kayode Reveals Why Senate Rejected El-Rufai As Minister In 2023.

The Ambassador-designate of Nigeria to Germany, Femi Fani-Kayode, has provided new insights into why the ministerial nomination of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, failed in 2023.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Fani-Kayode stated that, contrary to widespread claims, El-Rufai’s rejection was not the result of a political conspiracy among top federal officials. Rather, it stemmed from petitions submitted by various religious groups in Kaduna State.

According to Fani-Kayode, Shia Muslims, Tijaniya Muslims, and Christian groups had presented multiple petitions to the Department of State Services (DSS) during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nomination of El-Rufai. These groups alleged persecution during El-Rufai’s tenure as governor.

“The petitions were so serious they could not be ignored, which is why the Senate rejected his nomination,” Fani-Kayode said. He dismissed claims of a coordinated plot against El-Rufai as baseless, adding that if President Tinubu had opposed him, he would not have been nominated in the first place.

Fani-Kayode also highlighted alleged controversial actions by El-Rufai during his public service career, including demolitions of orphanages and thousands of homes in Abuja and Kaduna, which reportedly left many children and residents homeless. He claimed that these acts occurred without proper court orders or compensation.

He further noted that El-Rufai currently faces multiple legal battles, including investigations by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over allegations of money laundering, diversion of public funds, and illegal surveillance activities. Fani-Kayode suggested these legal challenges were consequences of El-Rufai’s actions while in office.

Expanding on his criticisms, Fani-Kayode accused El-Rufai of targeting political rivals, attempting to undermine government officials, and associating with subversive elements, raising potential national security concerns. He urged that the Nigerian Intelligence Agency, DSS, and other security bodies thoroughly investigate El-Rufai’s activities and associates.

He also warned of the dangers of El-Rufai’s claims about alleged imported lethal substances, emphasizing the need for clarity to prevent misinformation and potential public panic.

Fani-Kayode concluded by citing social media commentary that underscored the seriousness of El-Rufai’s public admissions regarding illegal surveillance, stressing that Nigerians should be alert and that the security agencies are expected to uncover the truth.
