Bwala Addresses Controversy, Says He Knows What It Means To Work For Tinubu.

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has stated that seeking praise from the public was never part of his motivation for serving his principal.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Bwala spoke out following widespread criticism of his recent interview on Al Jazeera’s “Head to Head” programme, hosted by Mehdi Hasan. During the interview, he denied being unaware of certain challenges facing the country.

When asked about Nigeria’s security situation, now ranked the fifth deadliest in the world, Bwala acknowledged the issue but noted that no nation is entirely free from security crises. He attributed the recent surge in attacks to post-Christian genocide narratives.

Bwala also faced questions regarding his past criticisms of Tinubu and his decision to work with the ruling party—topics that sparked controversy among Nigerians and political figures.

In a statement on his account on Saturday, Bwala defended his actions, saying promoting and defending President Tinubu’s administration is a responsibility he carries out with “ease and joy.” He added that if Al Jazeera had intended to challenge him on his past statements, he would have prepared in advance, but the outlet did not inform him of such plans.

Bwala further criticized the interviewer’s approach, describing it as “opposition research-style journalism” and claiming some of the quotes cited were inaccurate or misleading.

Addressing his past opposition to Tinubu, Bwala said: “I am proud of my record when I was in opposition. Politics naturally involves evolving positions. Even in Donald Trump’s cabinet, many served despite previously criticizing him, and the same applies to President Tinubu’s team.”

He dismissed critics as mainly opposition members and sympathizers, asserting that their reactions are temporary and do not diminish the government’s achievements or vision.

Bwala concluded by thanking Nigerians and non-Nigerians who commended his defence of the administration. He expressed respect for Mehdi Hasan as a top debater and said he looks forward to a follow-up interview focused on Tinubu’s policies, programs, and accomplishments, rather than his personal past.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
